Ten hotels nominated for the “Hotel Property Award 2022”

Munich – For the “Hotel Property Awards 2022”which will be presented at the 196+ hotelforum conference on Thursday 6 October, the interdisciplinary jury of experts has chosen ten hotels from among 36 applicants from seven European countries.

Among the ten nominees are three hotels from Germany, two from Italy and Austria and one from France, Iceland and Switzerland. Four hotels are new developments, three hotels were created from the conversion of buildings formerly used for other purposes, and three nominated hotels are revitalizations and repositionings or entirely new buildings of former hotel properties.

Andreas MartinJury President : “While out of all 36 hotels new buildings are slightly in the majority, this year among the nominated hotels we are seeing more repurposing and revitalization (6) than complete new buildings (4). from a bank building, factory site, prison, warehouse, palace or even old hotels, the repurposing and revitalization of existing buildings is expected to continue to gain in importance for the development of outstanding hotel properties in the future.”

The expert jury, consisting of a total of 18 members, is made up of representatives from the fields of architecture, operation, development, financing, technical building equipment and real estate design hotelier, as well as representatives of the media and academia. According to 196+ hotelforum, the decisive factor in selecting the nominees is the interplay of the following criteria

  • Architecture and design (innovation)
  • Integration into the project environment (destination)
  • Sustainability and technical innovation (future)
  • Originality of the concept (creativity)
  • Economic efficiency (investment)

Voice of the members of the jury out of the ten nominees:

Kerstin LüdemannManaging Director MPP Meding Plan + Project:
“The top 10 hotels in the competition very well reflect the range of current developments. Many have been created from conversions and excellent refurbishments of existing properties and thus serve the destination category in a particular way. , some have exceptional interior concepts that make the properties worthy of an award.”

Stefan HoskeSenior Consultant Architecture & Design at AXOR:
“The selection of the top 10 shows that the characteristics of the hotel experience, attention to detail, comfort and storytelling are extremely important. Elaborate renovations and restorations or the repurposing of old buildings reflect a trend among the nominees. New buildings integrate intelligently into their value, or voluntarily highlight their architecture to stand out from the neighborhood.”
