Sniper Escape: Hotel Staff Detained, Cop Suspended | News from Vadodara

Vadodara: The escape of notorious criminal and sniper Anil alias Anthony Gangwani from a hotel in the city led to the detention of his staff as well as the police sub-inspector who brought the moron to the hotel. The PI has now been placed under suspension.
Gangwani was brought to SSG Hospital (SSGH) in the city for treatment from Chhota Udepur along with two other defendants. He was imprisoned in Chhota Udepur prison for paying a man who supplied him with cotton crop residues in counterfeit notes.
The doctor in the ward where Gangwani was to be examined was not present on Friday morning. The police were asked to bring him back on May 11. At that point, Gangwani started pleading with the cops that he wanted to see his daughter. He was taken to Pooja Hotel in Alkapuri in a private car by the Reserve Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) of Chhota Udepur Police Headquarters, JP Damor. A Kawant Sunny Pancholi and driver Sadiq Makrani were present in the car.
When the group arrived at the hotel, hotel manager Sunil Parmar was present. He asked a chambermaid, Dinesh Macwan, to open room number six. Gangwani, Damor and others sat in the room until Gangwani Suman’s wife and sister Jayshri arrived there.
Later, G angwani and the two women remained in the room while the others, including Damor, went to another adjoining room. Around 3 p.m., the PSI went to see Gangwani and found that he and the women were missing. He informed his superiors and an offense was registered late at night at Sayajigunj police station. Sources said Damor escalated the incident very late to his superiors and city police. Police Inspector Reader RC Rathwa was rushed to the city from Chhota Udepur following the incident and he recorded an offense against Damor.
Sayajigunj Police Inspector RG Jadeja said Damor and the two hotel staff were arrested. Their samples were taken for a Covid test and would be stopped if the test came back negative.
Damor was suspended by Chhota Udepur police on Saturday. Chhota Udepur, Deputy Superintendent of Police, AV Katkad, said an investigation will also be conducted against Damor.
