Potential sale of hotel property prompts Mancino to seek relocation | New

CLEAR WATER (WQOW) – A potential sale of a local hotel is underway and a local restaurant on the property plans to move if the deal goes through.

As News 18 previously reported, Compass Real Estate hopes to turn what was once America’s Best Value Inn in West Clairemont, now known as Campus View Inn & Suites, into an apartment complex.

The company plans to turn the 120-room hotel into an 87-unit apartment complex.

Meanwhile, the areas occupied by Mancino’s, O’Leary’s Pub, and the hotel lobby and pool would be demolished.

Mancino’s Grinders & Pizza has been leasing space on the property for over 25 years.

The restaurant’s co-owner, Samantha Biwer, acknowledged that the sale is not final at this time, but if it does go through, she wants to be prepared and wants to stress that her restaurant is not closing permanently.

“We can’t wait for this entity, this new building to be built to be here. It’s way too long. It could be the end of next year. They say the earliest is next fall. C “It’s just too long to expect us to be in one place. We want to try to retain as many of our employees as possible,” Biwer said.

Mancino said a potential new location would likely be at Hastings Way and Brackett Avenue, but if the sale doesn’t materialize they plan to stay at their current location.

News 18 has also reached out to officials at O’Leary’s Pub and Campus View. They did not wish to comment until after the city council’s vote next Tuesday.

On Monday evening, the Eau Claire Plan Commission approved the site plan for the complex.

The rezoning piece will go into public hearing before the city council next Monday, July 26, and they will vote the next day on Tuesday, July 27.
