Mews Reaches Agreement to Acquire Cenium Hotel Management System |

“We are delighted to welcome Cenium to the growing Mews family,” said Richard Valtr, founder of Mews. “The company is established in the Scandinavian and Baltic regions and we are delighted to bring their expertise and products to Mews’ portfolio. Our ambition to become the world’s leading property management system was further enhanced by this acquisition, and the opportunity to partner within Nordic Choice Hotels was too good to miss.

The acquisition includes the Cenium products (Cenium 6, Cenium Core and Cenium Commerce) as well as the Cenium team which has in-depth expertise in the hotel industry, and more particularly in the Nordic region. This knowledge will have a clear impact on Mews’ growth in the region as the company continues to build Mews Hospitality Cloud into one of the fastest growing hospitality technology companies. Additionally, Cenium’s capabilities will be merged with the existing Mews product portfolio to create one of the most powerful property management systems on the market for the enterprise segment.

“Mews has a vision for the future of hospitality like no other in our industry,” said Michael Ramm Østgaard, CEO of Cenium. “The opportunity for us to bring our expertise and products into the Mews ecosystem is an exciting time for us. For our existing customers, we are extremely positive about what they will now be able to achieve with the Mews Hospitality Cloud.

As part of the acquisition, Nordic Choice Hotels aims to implement Mews’ technology across the entire Nordic Choice Hotels portfolio of more than 200 areas. It will help modernize and transform the experience for more than 15,000 Nordic Choice employees and millions of their guests. The partnership will enable Nordic Choice to leverage the Mews Hospitality Cloud at its Comfort Hotels®, Quality Hotel™, Clarion Hotel® and Clarion Collection® Hotel hotels, as well as any of the 40 standalone hotels in its portfolio across Scandinavia and the Baltic countries.

“Partnering with Mews is part of a major digitization initiative at Nordic Choice aimed at giving all of our hotel staff a better day at work and ultimately our guests a better and more seamless experience when staying with us. said Eirik Bogsnes, Executive Vice President of Hotel Services at Nordic Choice Hotel Group. “Mews was selected for its award-winning platform, secure and scalable cloud infrastructure, rapid deployment capabilities, and open ecosystem. We are convinced that this will give us the agility we need to support the ambition of the group, today and in the years to come.

Nordic Choice Group selected the full suite of Mews Hospitality Cloud features, including Mews Operations, Mews Guest Journey, Mews Payments and Mews Open API.

Cenium is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, and the acquisition is expected to close by March 2022. Matthijs Welle, CEO of Mews, said: “The Cenium team shares our passion for excellence in technology hotelier. Not only will they bring strong product expertise to our organization, but they will also have in-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry, including Nordic Choice. We will undoubtedly benefit from the arrival of their team at Mews, and we look forward to our collaboration.

This is the fourth PMS that Mews has acquired in the last 2 years, with Hotel Perfect, Base7Booking and Planet Winner already successfully joining the Mews Hospitality Cloud.
