Hotel staff negative for COVID, 40 more taken off duty

“Contact tracing has been undertaken and staff isolated as a precaution until the result is confirmed,” Victoria Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville said on Twitter.

“Saliva tests are very reliable with negative results, but can sometimes return false positives. Staff were asymptomatic and results were recorded for [a] strict daily testing regimen, ”Neville said.

The nurse was reportedly responsible for taking the temperatures of newly arrived guests and wearing head-to-toe personal protective equipment throughout her shift. During this time, the policeman went around as a ground supervisor. Colleagues currently in segregation include:

  • 33 nurses
  • 4 policemen
  • 3 cleaning staff

The decision to quarantine employees is a precautionary measure, as Victoria fights to protect communities from COVID.
