Flipkart launches domestic and international hotel booking service

Flipkart, an e-commerce marketplace, has announced the launch of a hotel booking feature on its platform for the travel industry. To provide better reach and options to customers, it announced that it will offer three lakh domestic and international hotels. It will also offer benefits such as flexible travel and booking policies, EMI options.

The company owns the online travel company Cleartrip whose application program interface it will use and integrate into its application and website.

In addition to offers, it will have a customer service center for user-related support and queries.

“New travel trends like exploring lesser known destinations, working stays, long stays and vacation rentals are becoming mainstream. These developments are giving a boost to the travel industry. Given last quarter’s 70% growth compared to a CAGR of 60% over the past two years, the next festive quarter should be even better for the travel industry as a whole,” the company said. in a press release.

Research by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has indicated that the travel and tourism sector’s contribution to India’s economy could exceed pre-pandemic levels in 2022, with annual growth of 20.7 %. The WTTC’s Economic Impact Report (EIR) forecast indicates that the sector’s contribution to the national economy could reach nearly $15.9 trillion ($215 billion) in 2022, 1% above 2019 levels.
