80s luxury motel The Isla debuts in Batemans Bay
The luxury property The Isla opened in Batemans Bay, welcoming the first guests to the 80s-style beach motel on Wednesday.
Located on Beach Road, Batehaven, in the Eurobodalla area of the NSW south coast, The Isla offers 18 retro bedrooms which have been restored with modern design and amenities including bespoke oak furnishings , terrazzo elements, brushed brass accents and AH Beard beds.
The rooms also offer contactless check-in so guests can easily access them via their mobile phone.

Designed by a group of friends from Canberra, The Isla was created by award-winning architects These. The property features Australian designers with seating by Design by Them, lighting by Coco Flip Design Studio, and artwork by Vynka Hallam and Tegan Franks.
Isla co-founder Yanna Dascarolis said the challenges of bushfires and closures have given people a new appreciation for “our beautiful Australian backyard”.
“There is something so wonderfully nostalgic about the Aussie motel; it feels like home away from home,” she said.
“We immediately fell in love with this property and saw the potential to create something truly special; it was an honor to be able to breathe new life into it.
Dascarolis said she’s excited for people to discover the area.
“It’s a beautiful pocket of the world and the perfect getaway to get off the grid. Pristine beaches, vast expanses of green and a beautiful community of people,” she said.
